Are you making the most of your website landing pages? If you’re like most other business owners, you probably aren’t. As simple as a landing page may seem, there’s a definite science to creating one that will actually improve your conversions and enhance sales. That being said, there’s no need to reinvent the wheel here.
By keeping the following five internet marketing tips in mind, you can create website landing pages that produce incredible results. If you’re interested in increasing website sales, these five easy steps are sure to help:
1. Use Bold Headlines & Be Convincing in Your Content
If the content of your site is flowery, wishy-washy or simply not authoritative, a visitor has no reason to stick around. Right from the get-go, you have to show prospective customers that you are credible. You have to respect their time. The language that you use is extremely important. Each sentence should make the reader want to read the next. Talk to your reader as if he is sitting across the table. Avoid fluff and empty words. Stick with action-oriented language that takes the reader by the hand and pulls them right along. Use verbs willingly. Also, be sure to use “signs of trust” (BBB emblem, certifications, testimonials, etc.)
2. Immediately Address Pressing Concerns
A person can click away from your site immediately after landing on it. He’s a lot less likely to do so when you immediately address two important concerns: “What is this website” and “What’s in it for me?” This is no time to be mysterious. You should immediately make it clear what the site is all about. Otherwise, you’ll be wasting your visitors’ time. You also need to quickly touch upon what’s in it for them. Why should they hear you out? This is very important throughout your landing page but especially true “above the fold” (the top half of your page immediately visible when the page loads.)
3. Explain How You Stand Apart from the Competition
No matter what type of product or service you’re selling, you face plenty of competition. The people who visit your site know that they have options, so you have to clearly and concisely explain why you are different from the rest. This is your USP- Unique Selling Proposition (or points). Define these points and communicate them. Without addressing this issue, you are certain to lose a ton of business as people move along to other options.
4. Keep it Simple
Resist the urge to make the website landing page too complex or confusing. You may be tempted to cram as much information onto it as possible, but that’s not what a landing page is all about. All of that information looks like a lot of work to navigate, and people don’t want to jump through hoops in order to get what they need. As soon as they arrive on the page, your visitors should be given clear instructions on how to proceed. The instructions should not be complicated. They should reassure a visitor that getting your product or service is as simple as can be. If you do need to place an abundance of information (sales copy), break it up & use compelling headlines along the way. Then, be sure to add your calls to action strategically placed along the way. Oh, and write at a 3rd grade comprehension level using 12-14pt font.
5. Include a Great Call to Action
This may be obvious to anyone who knows about internet marketing, but it bears repetition: You need to create a compelling call to action(s) and include them within & at the end of every landing page. Define your objective for the page. Is it to get an opt in for a free report? Get the prospect to call? To request more information? Then, ask for it. If you are asking for information from your prospect, ask for as little as possible… only what’s needed. Create a good call to action. If your page goes out with a whimper, visitors won’t feel compelled to do much of anything, and increasing website sales will be a pipe dream. If it wraps up with an exciting call to action, it will produce amazing results. That’s especially true when you design the rest of the page following the tips above. These tried-and-true landing page & internet marketing strategies are sure to help you increase conversions & sales.
